Dear Colleagues,

International Pediatric Sleep Association (IPSA) invites qualified individuals interested in serving as an officer and/or member of the Board of Directors—the leadership structure of IPSA —to self-nominate for the officer term 2023-2025 or board member term 2023-2027 by April 15, 2023.

Officers and Board Members are elected from membership to serve a two-year term (officers) or four-year term (board members) starting at our 2023 general business meeting on Sunday October 22, 2023 and continuing until our IPSA congresses in 2025 or 2027.   We are seeking candidates to fill 3 officer positions (President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer) and up to 3 board member positions, preferably within different regions from Europe, North America, South or Central America, Asia, Australia, Middle East, and Africa.

Individuals can submit their interest to IPSA Secretary Rosemary Horne by April 15, 2023 for further consideration. A decision by the Board of Directors will be made by May 15, 2023 for names to be included on the ballot. Information submitted will be made public if the name is included in the final ballot.

To self-nominate, you must include a letter of interest (maximum of 1 pages) which details:

a. Your past leadership roles in pediatric sleep medicine and/or research.
b. Your vision for the future of IPSA.
c. Which geographic region you are established in (for multi-country practice, select the location you reside in more than 50% of the time).

Completed nominations must be emailed or mailed to IPSA by April 15, 2023.

The Board of Directors is in the process of evaluating candidates for the positions based on the following factors:

  • Prior involvement and/or leadership in a sleep-related organization/society (i.e. member of a board of directors, chair of university, committee member at institution)
  • Demonstrated prominence in the field of pediatric sleep medicine as a clinician, researcher and/or educator
  • Participation in national and international societies
  • Academic/professional degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
  • Prior involvement with IPSA
  • Vision for IPSA and pediatric sleep medicine and research
  • Active engagement in sleep and/or circadian research and/or training, with commitment to the advancement of the field as a whole.

Secondary factors considered include geographic location, area of interest and background experience. IPSA values diversity within the sleep field and recognizes and promotes diversity within leadership positions from individuals with multiple demographics including race, gender, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation and disabilities to ensure an inclusive environment.

The Board of Directors will develop a slate of candidates by 3-months prior to our October 22, 2023 business meeting which takes place with World Sleep 2023 October 20-25, 2025 in Rio de Janeiro.  Names can be added to the ballot up until one month prior to voting if there is a presentation of 2 IPSA member names that support the nomination.

The Board of Directors term begins at the October 22, 2023 business meeting and concludes at the 2025 or 2027 IPSA congresses (dates and location to be determined).  The President-Elect will automatically transition to the President position at the 2025 congress (date and location to be determined). Thank you for considering these important positions within IPSA.

Sincerely,

Rosemary Horne, PhD, DSc
Secretary of IPSA
On behalf of International Pediatric Sleep Association Board of Directors
